The WM Phoenix Open likes to call itself “The Greatest Show on Grass.” The hundreds of thousands of golf fans who will traipse about TPC Scottsdale Feb. 6-12, following some of the greatest golfers in the world, would doubtless agree.
Every so often, though, the most-attended tournament on the PGA Tour gets a little competition, when the Super Bowl comes to town. (Or a nearby town, anyway.)
So it goes in 2023, when Super Bowl 57 arrives at State Farm Stadium in Glendale. But not to worry. Think of it as addition by addition: two huge sporting events in the Valley simultaneously. And if you’re a celebrity watcher, the chance of famous folks showing up during “The People’s Open” (as the Phoenix Open also calls itself) increases exponentially.
